N. Johnson, 82, former Chairman of the Board of Directors at Dominican College from 1965 until its closing in 1974, passed
away on April 25, 2002. His wife Jane, and nine children survive him. Mr. Johnson
was born on October 17, 1919. Both he and his wife Jane were graduates of St.
Catherine’s high school in Racine. He went on to an undergraduate degree at Marquette University and earned a law degree
from Cornell University. He spent several years in private practice and the last 25 years of his career as vice president,
secretary, and general counsel for A.O. Smith Corporation in Milwaukee. He was chairman when the college hired Tom Stevens,
former president. Additionally, he was instrumental in successfully completing
the Mt. Saint Paul merger, as well as, building the theater/gymnasium complex.
